New Year Eve Celebration

Tonight we went to the Godwin’s with lots of our neighbor friends to ring in the new year.  Of course, Ms. Jennifer had tons of fun activities for the kids (including a balloon drop), but I didn’t have my phone out for pictures.  Their most favorite, though, had to be the hot tub.  It was freezing outside (the moms checked our phone and the temp was 27), but it didn’t deter the kids.  The dads stayed outside with the kids while they played in the hot tub, and the moms stayed inside with the babies/little ones and the wine.  It was such a fun night, and we even made it until almost 10:00.  Caroline was beginning to melt down, as were a few others, so we ended the night and headed home.  We had three very happy, exhausted kiddos!

Sweet Cole Talk

Chloe walked into the room today, and Cole looked right at her and said, “Chloe, is it just me, or do you just keep getting prettier and prettier?”

Wow….. melt.  my.  heart.  Best big brother ever!

Merry Christmas!!!

I was the first one up today.  I repeat…..  I was the FIRST one up this morning!!  I awoke at 6 and could not go back to sleep.  I laid in the bed a little while and then just decided to get up and fix the coffee.  I also got the cameras ready, took pictures of what Santa had brought, and waited….. It was after 6:45 before everyone woke up.  I couldn’t believe it!  When we put the kids to bed last night, we told them they were not allowed to leave their rooms until it was daylight.  I really thought they would wake at 5 a.m., but nope – they made it until almost 7:00!  I got a few pictures of them waiting in Cole’s room before they were allowed to find their gifts.  Since this is the first year in our new house, we weren’t sure where Santa would leave the gifts!

When we thought we were through looking at everything, we just happened to find a note that Buddy left.  He wrote a very sweet message to the kids, and he ended it with this….. “P.s…. I left you something outside.”  Well, as you can imagine, the kids jumped up and ran downstairs as quickly as they could.  You couldn’t miss it in the backyard.  Santa had brought a TRAMPOLINE!!!!  It was freezing outside and there was frost and ice on the trampoline, but it sure didn’t stop Chloe and Cole from jumping on it!

Caroline and I stayed in the warmth of our cozy house and started working on breakfast.  We had a big, yummy breakfast, and we spend the rest of the day laying around watching Christmas movies while the kids played with their new stuff.  It was such a good, fun, family day.  Later in the afternoon we went to Ninnie and Big Poppa’s for dinner and presents with them.  I was so mad at myself because I forgot my camera, but another good time was had by all.  The kids begged to open presents first, and they tried their hardest not to be, but they sure were tired after eating dinner.  It was a full day for them (for us all, actually), and I don’t know who enjoyed it the most – the kids, or the parents watching their kids!  Merry Christmas to all!

Christmas Eve

Matt had to work today (Boo!), so we basically just hung around the house while I unpacked and got things put up in place.  We spent some time baking our cookies for Santa.

Then, the older kids ended up going to Ninnie and Big Poppa’s while Caroline napped so Matt and I could get some things done.  We all met up at church for candlelight service, and it was fun having all 3 kids in “big church” with us.  Caroline was a squirmy wormy, but she was pretty good.  She loved looking at the candles and the light, and of course, Chloe and Cole loved having a candle light to hold.  After church, we all went out to Sperry’s for a yummy meal before heading home.

It was later than we meant for it to be when we got home, so we quickly set out our cookies for Santa, got ready for bed, and told Buddy bye.  As excited as the kids were for Santa, I thought they would have a hard time going to sleep – but nope!  They must have been out as soon as we turned the lights out.  We didn’t hear a peep from them the rest of the night!

We Have a Mexican Food Problem

So…. we’ve lived in this house for 5 months and have already become regulars at the Mexican spot down the road.  We love the servers and owners – they are the sweetest people and are so good to our kids.  After unpacking all day from returning from Pappy and Papa’s, we were tired and decided to do Mexican.  When we paid, one of the owners gave us an envelope as we were walking out.  We got home and opened it.  While we were flattered, we also laughed and laughed.  It sure didn’t take us long to become a valuable customer!  Ha!

Christmas with Pappy and Papa Rod

After Chloe’s school party, we rushed home, packed up, and headed west.  We arrived in time for dinner, and we all waited patiently for Mize and Landon to come over.  We couldn’t wait to meet, see, hold, and love on sweet Landon.

We waited until Saturday to open presents, so we spent the day eating, playing outside, and the kids counted down the minutes until they could open presents.  FINALLY everyone arrived, and the kids were about waited out, but they perked right up and were ready!

The kids played and played until they were tuckered out.  The next day we tried to get some pictures of the 5 of us after church, but that was quite a difficult task.

Then we all – all 12 of us – went to Memphis to have a good lunch.  It was a chaotic but fun meal, and we were happy to have the rest of the day to spend with Pappy and Papa.  We didn’t leave until the next day, so we laid low, and got up early the next day and hit the road.  The kids were so excited and had such a good time, and for once we didn’t have to drag them out of their grandparents’ house.  With Santa on their minds, this is the one time a year they don’t mind going home!
