No Cole Allowed

Pappy and Papa Rod got Chloe a new mattress for her birthday, and it is much softer, much more comfortable, and much taller than her old mattress.  The kids love it, and of course, Cole loves jumping on it.  It was starting to get on Chloe’s nerves (and mine, too, because Cole keeps falling off and I’m afraid we’re going to end up in the ER).

So today, Chloe asked for a piece of paper.  This is what she drew.  It is a picture of she and Cole on her bed with a big X through it.  Oddly enough, though, they both have the biggest smiles on their faces.  And, if you can’t tell, she got the tape herself and taped to her door.

Her message reads:  Noe Cole ullow

Now, the teacher (and the mom) in me is pretty darn proud.  How close she was to the correct spelling of “No Cole allowed”

I forgot to take a picture (because I didn’t have a spare hand trying to help hold both my kids hands while getting their teeth cleaned), but today was Cole’s first dentist appointment.  It went well, but the hygienist and dentist commented on how small Cole’s mouth is.  Imagine that!  His bottom teeth are very, very crooked, and the dentist explained it was because they came in any which way they could fit in his small mouth.  They weren’t positive at this point, but I was told more than likely Cole will have some major appliances to stretch his mouth out once his permanent teeth come in.

Also, Chloe remains cavity free, but the big news…..BOTH of her bottom teeth are loose!  I couldn’t believe it!  I would have never noticed had the dentist not told me and let me see.  Wow – 5 years old and loose teeth???  My heartstrings are getting tugged again.

Fun Night Out

Mitch and Sarah came over for dinner, and after scarfing down some food, we went to the Franklin Theatre to see Jason Isbell.  I was very, very impressed.  I’ve seen him before and hear Matt listening to him all the time, but I really enjoyed seeing him tonight.  The guy can sing!  It was very fun hanging with Mitch and Sarah, and it turned out to be a late night  – complete with kitchen dance party and all!

Big Poppa’s Birthday

We had Ninnie and Big Poppa over tonight for Poppa’s birthday.  Matt grilled the steaks and I was in charge of the app, sides, and dessert.  It was a good meal, and the kids enjoyed playing with the grandparents and “helping” Daddy cook.  It was so warm outside tonight that after dinner we took our wine and sat outside while the kids played.  Very unusual to be able to do this in January!  Good conversation, good food, good family, and good times!  Happy Birthday, Big Poppa!
